Pillar Mentorship
What is Mentorship?
A mentorship is a relationship is one in which an individual with relatively more experience, knowledge, and connections (usually called the mentor) passes along what they have learned to another (usually called the mentee). However, such a relationship is absolutely two-way. Mentors are often in positions of leadership in their organization and through their interaction with newer members to their communities provide them with fresh perspectives and ideas to give life to their own work.
Having a mentor can help you in many ways including advancing in your technical expertise, making connections to people and opportunities that you might not have otherwise had access to, and becoming aware of areas that are important for you to make advancements in for the sake of your career. Mentors facilitate these benefits by sharing their knowledge, helping you identify opportunities in your path, and potentially opening doors for you when the time comes.
